I was at a pet store today and this lady was getting her water tested. The guy testing it was using strips. I was just wandering around and happened to hear that the lady had a problem with her tank and the guy wasn't really helping.

I had to help...I just had to...she said she got a tank for Christmas and added fish right away, and all her fish except one died. So I apologized to the guy and told the lady to follow me and I'd show her what she could do for the remaining fish.

I told her about the things I was familiar with: the nitrogen cycle (which she didn't know about), the filter types and bb, the API master test kit, and seachem products, mainly stability and prime.

I'm hoping she understood what I was trying to explain. And I hope I helped. And I REALLY didn't mean to hijack the customers

If her eyes didn't cloud over, maybe you got through.

I feel kinda bad for that employee though. He thought prime was bacteria. I'm like, um no that's stability. Prime is a conditioner

My husband and I were in a pet store and this lady was looking to buy a new tank. She was looking at the Fluval Chi. We noticed she was having a hard time deciding if it was the right tank or not. So we got to talking and found out she has a tank at home and it was full of algae. So my husband starts asking her about water changes and looking at the filtration system that comes with the Chi.

It is kind of cool to be able to pass on your knowledge to other people, even if they are random strangers! I think it's good that you tried to help, it's better that you butted in rather than her getting the wrong information! Plus maybe since she got the right info it'll help to become more interested and learning things for herself.

i've done that same thing too. I just think that if 'we' as fish keepers, can educate the non educated people....about keeping fish in an appropriate manner....then we may be able to save some fishy lives. good job

That's good, I've done pretty much the same thing.
