It's been 3 days since I started cycling my 50 gallon tank. There are 8 mollies & 4 African cichlids. But I don't see any ammonia spike so far. Same happened with my previous tank too, never saw any spike.

Is it because of bottled bacteria am adding ?
Or do you think seachem ammonia alert is showing wrong reading ?

I think the Seachem ammonia alert only measures free ammonia - NH3. As your pH is under 7, ammonia will mainly be present as ammonium - NH4+. It might be useful to use the API ammonia test as a comparison as this measures total ammonia present in both forms.

You need to purchase an API ammonia test. Those ammonia alert things are not meant for cycling a tank properly, and my research showed that they are in general not very accurate anyway (which is why I don't have them in my tanks, because they would be wonderful if they did work!).
