My nerite snail Sheldon isn’t moving, he’s done this before but this time I smelled him and he doesn’t smell but he won’t move when I touch him. Is he alive is he dead? What should I do? Any help is appreciated

How long has it been in the same spot? How long have u had him? Try putting a piece of food a few inches away from him and c if he goes for it or put him in a very specific area of the tank and monitor if there is any movement.

The easiest way is to pull them out and smell them. Dead snails stink.

I have had him for 2-4 months, he’s been in the same spot for around 1 day. The nitrates were a little higher than usual though.

Agree with the smell test. It's the worst smell ever a dead snail.
