I Can't Feed My Fish for next 3 days

Hello, I am going away for three days and I was unable to find a babysitter to watch my fish. Is there anything I can do to keep the GBR and neon tetras safe for the next three days? I've read that fish should be ok going without food for three days. I just don't want to push it. I'm not sure if I'm able to get one of those slow release dissolving feeders. Would it be helpful if I just feed a large amount of food right before I leave? I have algae tablets that seems to stick around for a while and the fish seems to like. Should I just use two of the algae? I don't think the neon tetras like the algae tablets... Is there anything I can do? sorry for the mess of a post, please tell me if I need to clarify anything. Thank you guys so much.

Typically fish can go 7-10 days with no issues. I wouldn't worry unless you have fry.

Id just feed as normal you don't want to cause za problem while away, you can get feeding blocks designed for this purpose but three days I wouldn't worry we spoil our fish in the wild they go a lot longer between meals I wouldn't worry

3 days won't cause any issues, but the slow release vacation feeders can.

They will be fine. An occasional fast can be good. I’ve been reading up on it and fast my fish once a week already.

Three days is nothing. Healthy fish are always hungry. Feed just before you go, and feed when you get back. Trying to time something is a good way to overfeed them.

Zero worries if you leave a healthy tank for three days without food. Huge worries if you dump a bunch of extra food in or get one of those vacation feeder blocks. You're asking for an ammonia spike if you do that. A cycled tank is a balance among the fish, the amount of food, and the established bacteria colony. Putting extra food in the tank would be exactly the same result as if you added a bunch of fish.

Test your water before you leave. As long as you're tank's healthy, you could easily go a week or more without feeding.

Thank you guys so much, I have live plants so they should be fine. I thought vacation blocks would prevent ammonia spikes too?

I've never used vacation feeders, but I've heard many horror stories about them. Especially since you have live plants, it's not going to hurt your fish to eat algae salad for a couple days.

The vacation feeders typically melt faster then the fish eat it so it releases a lot of extra food into the water.

I left my fishes 11 days without feeding. They were hungry when I got back, but were all good

Yeah, I haven't had one work properly. Way back when I threw one in one of my tanks, came back from vacation, and the water was so cloudy it looked like milk. Didn't have an ammonia test then, but I don't think the water quality was good at all....
Another time I threw one in for two weeks, it made the water cloudy but never really dissolved and never actually released any food. Could have just been getting duds, but I'm not using those again. Oh and one other I tested in a tupperware container before leaving and the whole thing dissolved in half a day, so I stopped using them after that

It's not a problem, 3 days is a small time for fish to go without feeding, I've left mine for 2 weeks at a time & they're all fine, just feed them on the day you leave & they'll be OK. I worry more about my filter or heater breaking down while I'm away but nothing I can do about that.
