Hygger light timer being weird

I recently purchased a hygger LED light for my twenty gallon which works really well however I've been trying to use the included timer which isn't the best as instead of being able to modify the times it only has three modes which vary from 3 to 12 hours but when I leave it on any of the modes I'll leave for school only to return to the light in a dimly lit state which is unusual to say the least. Can anyone help me out?

I don't know what kind of programming it would have. Thats all i could think of that would caise it to go dim, unless the lights themselves going wonky.
