Hi,

Got a few nasty surprises tonight in my blue shrimp tank. It now has hydra, planaria a leech and I'm not okay with all that. The only thing that changed a new batch of 12 shrimp i won in an auction. I've read about fenbendazole and a Japanese treatment, but i want to know what REALLY works and is easy. I was an English teacher for a reason and chemistry, to put it mildly, isn't my strong suit. Any help quickly would be appreciated so i can make a quick Amazon order, if possible.
As always, thanks in advance. BTW-Jack the oranda died this morning. I think he was just too deformed and not right, but we both tried.

Well No-Planaria worked liked magic for me.No problems with shrimp or fish but your tank wont be snail safe for awhile if you use it.

Well, therein lies the problem. That tank is full of snails with the shrimp. Is there any way to treat them without removing the snails? I saw a treatment with peroxide. Anyone tried that? If so, was it successful?

Honestly, when you want to keep your shrimp and snails safe, you should rather consider a complete redo. Keep the animals, toss all plants and decorations including substrate, clean the tank, filter, heater. The filter media you could keep eventually, unless the planaria have colonized it, too. pretty much all chemicals will have negative effects on either the shrimp or the snails.

Any idea how you got all these critters in there?

Didn't notice either the planaria or the hydra until today. Got a shipment of shrimp about 4 days ago.

thats a shame its happened but needs to be dealt with ,id take out what snails you want to keep and dose with planaria zero ,these are two of the worse things for a shrimp tank and they get everywhere so the med needs to get around all the tank, its possible that some of the snails you leave in will live which is quite common when using planaris zero, also make a separate solution and treat your nets,

Well, just peachy. I may have to invest in nets for each tank. I'll admit i have one I use for indoor an another for outside tubs.
