Hydra And Planaria In My Red Cherry Shrimp Tank

I have nano tank 18 x 10 x 10 inch. It is heavily planted with plants. Stone and drift wood. I have DIY .I have 11 Fire Red Shrimp.

They never eat, I added hikarI food but they ignore it and never eat. After that I never added food.

Suddenly I saw hydra and planaria in my tank, due to that my shrimp hide always. May be that is the reason my shrimp never eat. Now I bought from ebay.

Kindly somebody tell me that, how can I use that to remove hydra and planaria. I have heard that Fish Bendazole can kill red cherry shrimp, is it true ?

Please give me some good advice on it.

Hydra can kill shrimp, but I think planaria are harmless.

Funny that your Shrimp are hiding, I am always cautious about CO2 as it seems to effect the PH over the day. Couple that with a nano tank I would be worried about PH changes stressing the shrimp.

Ive tried hikarI before and my shrimps ignore the pellets. I switch to JBL granules. That they go after. Both hydra and planaria are bad for shrimp. Planaria with the triangular head have been known to sting. No idea on the fish bendazole though, I used 'No Planaria' in a small shrimp tank with no ill effects to the shrimp. The planaria is gone.

Hi, planaria for the most part are harmless to cherry shrimp but can harm the tiny fry. I have used PrazI Pro (praziquantel in my shrimp tank with zero issues). I'd be hesitant to use fenbendazole with shrimp, though I can't say for sure it will harm them, maybe someone else can.

I agree though that I probably wouldn't be using CO2 in a shrimp tank.

Lots of people do successfully inject CO2 in shrimp tanks, so it's definitely possible.

ive heard of taking out hydra with hydrogen peroxide, but not sure what that would do to shrimp;
too bad you can't switch this to a temp gourami tank, ive heard of them eating both
