Hydor heaters over heating?

I have multiple tanks and suddenly am having issues with the heaters in my smaller tanks running hot. I have Ehiem Jagers in the big tanks, but hydor 50W heaters in the 10 gallons and all of the tanks are suddenly at 80+ degrees even though they are set lower. The room is kept at 68F, so I know it's not the ambient room temperature.

One hydor is a few months old, the others are a few years old. Odd that it's all happening at once.

Anyone had similar issues with Hydor heaters, and any recommendations for good heaters for smaller (10g) tanks?

Thanks. I'm new to the forum and wasn't sure if this was the right place to put this. I found some heater reviews lower down in the review threads and haven't seem much positive about hydors. Looks like I'll be buying a few new heaters!

 

Prob a little late posting, but I have a Hydor Theo 25w in my 5.5g Betta tank. My heater is doing the same thing and only had it about 3-4 weeks. Have been turning down the heater setting a deg at time to try and maintain 80 deg. Started initially with 79 deg setting, now heater is set at 72 for 80 deg water. Starting to have concerns about heater.

 

I just got a hydor 25 watt in my 3 gallon and it is doing something similar in under 24 hours...When the Temp in the room goes up it seems to run higher too - set at 79 it has run as high as 80.6 while the room itself is still only 76 degrees - so I've taken it down to what I think is 78 (as it is in-between what is marked as 77 ans 79)

I was wondering if fluctuations are normal - or if this is broken
what happened with you two?
were you able to adjust it or did you go for something different?
