Hurt guppy

squidny

Ive already posted about this but i dont think it was in the right place and didnt get much help. I had 2 male guppies and 3 neon tetras in a filtered and heated 10gal. I had them in there for a few months, and all of a sudden one of the male Guppies (named Mem) has started attacking Rayble (the other guppy), I seperated them, but Rayble had torn fins. He swam on his side, but seemed fine other than that. But today, ive noticed his back is arched and isnt moving his tailfin, like its paralized. he can only move his pectoral fins but they arent in sync and dosnt help him move much, and he still is on his side. Ive put stresscoat in his water since hes now in QT. I had another male guppy in QT too that i was going to add to their tank. I had the new Guppy in a cup floating in the 10gal, and Mem tried to attack him through the plastic, so i decided to take Mem out of it and put him in a seperate tank. He never attacked any of the Neons though. Is there anything i can do for the nipped fish? Here are some pictures of what he used to look like and what he looks like now. The yellow one is him, and the orange one is the bully.

That's really too bad what happened to your fish. It's hard to be sure from pictures, but if his injuries are as significant as they seem you seriously should consider euthanizing. It's the tough side of fish keeping. All the best!

It seems like Mem might just be aggressive. Some fish are just like that and need to be separated out. However, I don’t know what would cause him to lash out like that so suddenly. Is Mem bigger than the other two guppies? I have two male fancies and the bigger one chases the smaller one from time to time, but that behavior is mostly because of the female guppies in the tank.
As for the injured fish, I would have to agree with HupGuppHup and euthanize him. He doesn’t seem to be doing well.

Eventhough, guppies are mostly known as being friendly, aggression is something that can always happen. No matter if they're female or male.
