Huge pH swings from tap

Testing the water in my new apartment today I discovered this-

    Water from tap- 8.4 pH
Water after 24 hours- 7.6 pH
    With dry ferts- 6.7-6.9 pH

Are these dangerous swings? Going from a 6.7 to an 8.4 during water changes? The fish don't look stressed but this still seems a bit dangerous.

I'll definitely be waiting a day to add ferts instead of adding them the same day as water changes. Ouch.

I guess it would be stressful if you were doing very large water changes. My tap water pH is 7.2 and then settles to 6.0. So I try not to do very large water changes. Just smaller cleanings.

Yeah I usually do a 50% every week on a 55G, so definitely changing that.

I'd keep water changes to 30% or so unless you want to leave the water out for 24 hours in a bin before your water change.
