Hi all!

Could anyone give their opinion on the species of my pair?

When I bought them they were labeled as Honduran Red Points. I know these are often misidentified and interbred with convicts so Id like to hear some opinions of which they resemble more.

If you are experienced with identifying them please share your wisdom!

Thats probably what they are, Honduran red point. Likely crossed with the convict for the blue, I have some labeled as polar blue parrot cichlid, they are crossed with convict but have the same features as parrots. Theres alot of guessing with them as the convict hybrids have a wide variety of hybrid mixes. Ive attached pic of mine.

They look like polar blue blood parrots. But how big are they if they are a decent size pronto because those guys only get 3-4 inches

Thanks guys! I actually happened to have an arctic in the tank before I got these two, I think the picture is generous with the blue as the arctic was actually more vivid blue than these, but definitely smaller and a little more chunky in the mid section. Its possible they are cross bred with them at some point, it seems like their mouth shape is somewhere between a traditional convict and an arctic.

For size, the male looks to be around 4.5 inches and the female is much smaller, maybe 3. Ive had them for about 3 months and theyve been growing pretty steadily and the male has been showing more red in his face and tail.

They have been raising about 30 fry for the last couple weeks showing behavior like whats described for regular convicts. They are great parents, i love watching them "renovate" moving around plants and rocks for the fry.

I'd say that the belly color on the big one suggests that there is HRP in them, as does your comment that the male is showing red in face and tail. The "Polar Blue" is HRP crossed with Jellybean Parrots, which are the deformed Convicts. But they do cross with regular Convicts as well, and color/pattern is unpredictable.
