Huh, so strange!
You sure that there has never been a living shrimp in this tank? Or that an egg may have gotten into here?

He's such a cute little shrimp!

That's awesome!! You must have moved something from your shrimp tank to the new tank?

This happened to us except with a cory fry. There were a bunch of plants dying in one tank. We were going away for a week so I threw them in a another empty (except water) tank to deal with when we got home.

Fast forward a week or so and we see movement..it's one small cory fry happily swimming around in that tank!

The only thing I can think of is I moved the heater from the 2.6g which had shrimp at one time. Odd. That means it somehow got in the filter compartment because that's where the heater was. Weird?

Really weird! Nobody else there that could have moved it themselves?

Nope. Hubby doesn't touch my tanks. Upon further thought I did move a plant over at one point. This would mean the shrimp went through 3 filter screens to end up in the back of this tank. Surviving a betta on its way. Too bizarre!

Is it possible you netted a shrimplet and it made it into the tank that way?

Just go with it I've ended up with shrimp in all sorts of odd places from moving filter media and plants. My favorite was a shimp that decided to hitch a ride on some pothos I was moving into a vase across the room, complete baby at the time, so about 2 months after moving the plants into the vase, I just saw a bright red thing swimming around happy as he could be.

Well I finally managed to catch this little shrimp. It's been unreachable in the filter media. Lol. Now it's with my other shrimp.
