how well will this filter work ?

okay so a 400 gph sump pump buried in gravel in a tub (beta tank ) with java moss growing on it so the pump pulls water thru the java moss then into the gravel then out thru a hose to the other side of the tank
like this

If the java moss doesn't get clogged, eventually dying, I don't see why it shoudn't work.
The problem I antecipate is the java moss getting filled up with detritus. You should get net to prefilter and perhaps a coarse spongelike 'ting' to take the load off the java moss.

And don't forget the moss nedds light to live, so you'll have to iluminate your filter...

its inside the tank under high lighting so it should be okay

You have clean water?
Or a prefilter (grid or net) in front of the moss?

its more or less I high powered ugf will keep track of how it goes
