One of my mystery snails climbed out of his tank and was found on the floor next to it dead this morning. I have a lid on this tank and the only way he could have got out is through the filter opening in the back. Have any of you had this happen? And why did he do that?

Some of my pest snails did that to get away from the clown loach.

Did you put him back in the tank? He may not be dead. They can survive a long time out of water. And yes that's pretty common for Mysteries to climb out of their tank. Who knows why the do it. Although, I know Mysteries climb out of water to lay their eggs so sometimes if the water level is too high to lay the eggs on the glass they will climb out of the tank to do it.
