Hi guys. I adopted a betta that is starting to get swim bladder disease. I was wondering how to cure him of it. He swims with his back end up, and cant swim down. Do i just fast him for 3 days and then give brine shrimp? ( i heard theyd do better with shrimp over the pea). Is there any medication that i need for it?

Tank:
Size - 2.5gallons
Filter - hob
Substrate - sand
Temp - 78F
Plants - 1 moss ball, fake silk

Stock: 1 betta

Yea, brine shrimp is no good, daphnia is much better. Peas are great, but some fish won't touch them. So i would keep both on hand. Fresh or frozen peas, not canned. Fast for 3 days then try just a small bit.

Sbd can turn into dropsy though, so be quick and maybe get some meds to keep on hand, like kanaplex.

I believe you can also do epsom salt baths, but look it up, im not positive of the process.

Moving him to much to do epsom salt baths might stress him out, I am not 100% sure but it could be a risk.

I agree, the moving could stress him out. It's a last resort imo, I've never actually done it, which is why I'm not sure of the process. But if nothing else works first, it is an option.
