So my cats keeping jumping onto the fishtank stand, sometime they watch the fish derp about, but sometimes they jump onto the rim and drink the water. I'm concerned this might affect the water, or affect the fish. I can't get a lid just yet, so i'm wondering if anyone knows of a temporary solution

Can you keep the cat out of the room? I'd be concerned it's gonna grab your fish.

My tank is in the kitchen. Can't exactly keep them outta there. Most of my fish are bottom dwellers (thankfully) but my Betta chills at the surface.

You could cover it with cling wrap as long as you leave some holes for air circulation.

I don't, but that also wont stop them. It might hold up for a bit longer then cling wrap, lol

Cat's* Imagine having a cat that will destroy the blinds to watch a bird outside. Now imagine 3 of those cats. Thats what it's like, lol. Thx btw.

cats hate aluminum foil. lay some of it out on the counter around the tank, they will hit it and never get near it again, unless they are total mutants, cats can't stand the feel or sound of it on their feet.

Tis what I meant. I have a Tetra Whisper, but for a name with "Whisper" it sure is loud, lol

Personally, I wouldn't even worry about it.

It is incredibly annoying though. Whenever they jump on the table it scares the fish. They are already lethargic enough.

Unless they try to eat a fish I don't think drinking from the tank will do anything. People keep goldfish in watering troughs to eat the bugs.

Think about ponds....fish won't die because animals drink from it, it is more a kind of syphon :)
Give your Betta a log he can hide in and enough plant cover, he is smart enough ..hopefully.

My cats did this for years. I never tried to discourage them.
