Ok, this has always bothered me!

Do you spell this Betta or spell it beta?

And do you pronounce it "Bayt-uh" or "bet-uh"?

I've seen/heard it both ways and have always wondered what is correct! Maybe it just depends on your accent or something, I don't know.

Spelling is Betta as their scientific name is Betta Splendens, I pronounce it Bet-uh though I don't think there's an official pronunciation

It's spelled "bettas" when you spell it properly. You pronounce it "bet-uh" or "bait-uh"
Not "bait-uh". "Bet-uh" is right, as in "better".

I've heard it pronounced "bait-uh", or you could spell that pronunciation "bate-uh" or "bayt-uh". I personally pronounce it more like "bait-uh", but I think it also depends on where you're from and your accent.

Around where I live everyone says bay-tah as in the Greek letter.

And I'm glad we covered mbuna. That has always been a puzzle for me.

Correctly pronounced, it's BET-uh. But 99% of people say BAY-tuh.

I'm pretty sure both are correct. "Bay-tuh" just rolls off the tongue better in an English accent
Doesn't everything?

LOL. There are many words we say incorrectly. As long as the meaning gets across, I think we'll survive it.
