I was wondering, is there anyway to tell the difference between male and female sparkling gouramis? Is there any visual difference or do you have to trust what the person you’re getting them from tells you?
I kept them many years ago. I personally was never able to sex them myself and had to hope I was being given a pair (luckily I was!) I've read that the males sometimes have subtle red dots above the stripes. Here's a link for you but I don't know if it will help. Trichopsis pumila – Sparkling Gourami (Ctenops pumilus, Trichopsis pumilus var. siamensis) — Seriously Fish
You might just have to trust the seller.
