To set up a frog tank:

  1. Get a tank with a tight fitting lid or screen. A 10-gallon will work.
  2. Put a large, shallow dish of water about 1-2 inches deep in the tank. Make sure the water is dechlorinated.
  3. It won't need a heater as long as it's inside when it gets cold, but should be kept at a maximum low of 68 degrees Fahrenheit.
  4. You can use coconut hull bedding for substrate.
  5. Put a few pebbles or pond plants in the water dish that have algae on them. This will be some of the tadpole's food before it turns into a frog.
  6. Make sure the tank is not in full sun.
  7. Add a cave, like a coconut hut for hermit crabs, and some fake or real plants for the frog to climb on. Add a small water dish just for drinking water. You will need to change this daily once the tadpole turns into a frog, but you won't need it until then.
  8. Find another small dish for the food.
