How To Keep Plants Alive While Sealant Is Curing

how do I keep plants alive while waiting for the sealant to fully cure? (supposed to take 48hrs)
do I just mist them as often as possible? I have ordered driftwood and I have some buce I got recently so I want to attach them to the wood once it arrives in a few days but not sure how to go about it

Put them in a cup filled with declorinator water and keep them away from direct sunlight.

ok so I just need to let the silicone dry and then put the wood and plants in a container of water?

A simple wrap in a wet paper towel then placed in a ziplock will do just fine.

I'm not sure if I have ziplocks big enough for the wood but I will have to try that

Why would you wrap the wood... Just take the plants off if they’re already on it and put the plants in a ziplock or any sandwich bag with a little water. They’ll stay alive for some time in that.

Id wait until you’re ready to fill the tank then do what ever you have to do. you can use saran wrap if you want to as well.

Just to clarify (as I'm slightly confused), are you wanting to use a silicone sealant to attach the plants to the driftwood?

Most people recommend the use of a gel/liquid super glue: fast drying (several minutes) and non-toxic. No need for silicone.

The plants, as others have mentioned, can just be kept in a container of water until the driftwood arrives.

yes I was planning on using some as I can just find it easier then glue that's non-toxic. because of how limited that sort of thing is in my area. but I can try looking for some if needed

I already have the plants in my tank right now so I'm not worried about that but was more worried about for when I used to sealant to attach the plants onto the wood

The super glue in question is largely all the same: cyanoacrylate. Can find it generally wherever that sells tools and hardware, stationery, student supplies, etc. There's no need for an aquarium-specific super glue.

lol its fine. I likely didnt explain myself very well

I looked at my local hardware store but they don't have any glue that's aquarium safe. is there any brands you all have used before?

I’ve used regular krazyglue from my local dollar store.

I use Loctite, but in the end it's all the same stuff: cyanoacrylate. There's no need for an aquarium-specific super glue.

Yep, I just use Krazy glue. I used the no-running gel, if you prefer specifics.

I ended up using krazy glue since it was one of the cheaper glues. it worked really well but sadly dried white lol so its driving me a little crazy seeing the white on wood but other then that I'm pretty happy with it. hopefully once the buces get bigger they will cover it up

As long as the only ingredient is cyanoacrylate any brand will work. I’ve also used the locite, as well as a few aquarium specific ones, absolutely no difference between them.

Do not use silicone to attach plants, will smother the roots.

Favorite way to attach anything is with zip ties...

oh ok I never knew they could smother the roots....now I'm glad I didnt go with the silicone because it said that it could be used for plants
