Not 100% sure what kind of algae this is but I also have other vallisneria that is perfectly green and reaches to the top of the tank so not exactly sure why these guys aren't doing as good they've also been planted a lot longer than the healthy ones any advise would be great id like to clean them off before putting them back in the tank this algae will come off it i rub the leaves enough but that would take ages i have tons of them lol

Yeah that would take forever. Do you have any snails?

I have one nerite snail this is a 55 gallon tank heres the lighting Its on a timer the lights are on about 6 hours a day ( its so cloudy because I have moved the sand and took out all the plants lol) you see what I mean about some of the vallisneria getting so tall and not having issues with algae and ive had to trim them a lot

Mine do. They bend my Vals down all the time when they get up so high.

Are you putting the plants back in? Or just cleaning them?

This happened to all of my older vals, what I did was peel all of the algae-covered leaves off (snails refused to eat that stuff) and trim the roots, then they grew fresh healthy-looking leaves and roots.

Yes you can cut them to give them fresh roots. Just dont cut them all the way off. Leave about a inch left over.

Unfortunately algae is always growing. I’m thinking those vals are 2 different types. We’re the short one ever long? Next for your lighting split the time period. Have the lights on for 4 hrs off for 3 hrs and back on for 3 or 4 hrs. This will cut down on algae growth but not plant growth. Other things you could do is add a uv sterilizer or some shrimp.

I think the goldfish and sharks will eat most shrimp.

Ramshorns snails will clean plants better than nerites which get too big to climb skinny plants. They will also multiply which not everyone likes.

My ramshorns don't do the same job as my guppies, Nerite and Siamese algae trio do.
