How to get red spotted severum to come out

9 weeks ago I purchased 2 red spotted severum (super red). They were about 3". I put them in my 75 gallon with a couple blood parrots. One of the severum continually hides in the corner and I thought he was being bullied so after about 10 days of this I put him in his own 10 gallon by himself. He still hides constantly. He will not even eat if I am in the room. If I take his hiding cave out he shoves himself behind the filter. Not sure what to do. He looks very healthy and is growing fast. I just don't want a fish I will never see. The other one is doing fine in the Comunity tank.

Well being in a 10 gallon I'm sure he's hiding due to being stressed from being in too small of a tank. I also think you should give him places to hide if he chooses to. Trying to force him to come out will only lead to more stress and more hiding.

When I had a severm with my BPs they seemed to pick on him so he tended to hide a lot.

Also my understanding is Severms don't like to be with other severms. They pick on and bully eachother so that could be your problem as well.

I don't know what else to add as e_watson09 pretty much covered it. They can get big...I think like 10+ inches and need a 55 gallon tank so you won't be able to keep him in a tank that size for long.

Thanks for the replies.
Obviously the 10 gal is a temporary thing. I have a 90,75,and 20 gallon I can house him in with other fish. I wanted to see if it was a bully reaction. I think this is just a fish that doesn't want to be seen.
My BPs tend to be very passive. They will break up any fighting in the tank. I call it the parrot patrol.

That's crazy because mine always wanted to be involved in any fighting or they were the cause of it when I had a few in a 125.

Either way you'll never truly know about the bullying thing because you took him out and moved him into a tiny tank so naturally he'd be stressed out and hide. Personally I'd rehome him, judging by your other tank's stock I do not think it would be a good idea for him to be in any of the other tanks either.

I put him in the 90 with the Oscar an BPs. He's doing great. Out and about with everyone.
