How to do water changes with fry in the tank

Hi,
I posted a question earlier what I should do about my jellybean eggs. Well now they turned into fry and I need to do a partial water change and I'm not sure how to go about doing that. Also can anyone please give me ideas as to how I should administer food to the fry?
Thank you for all your help and reading my post. Anxiously await your responses. Also if any of you could share your experiences with fry that would be greatly appreciated.

... very carefully sorry I couldn't resist You can use a very small siphon tube and siphon into a bucket in case you accidently suck up a baby. then you can gently return dechlored water to the tank. About 50% each day. How you feed them depends on what your going to fee, so I need a little more info there. I use HikarI first bites quite frequently, when using that I wet my forefinger then stick it into the package then press my thumb to my fore finger to keep it from falling off them stick both fingers under water and rub together this allows the food to kind of float down to the fry. hope that helps and is not confusing

Thank you for your reply I thought of feeding them powdered flakes. The problem is I don't know how to get it to them since they are still with their parents and the father attacks me (even though he's quiet small and it doesn't hurt) every time I put my hand in the tank. So how would I feed them without stressting the parents out?

You'll just have to crumble flakes and swish them so some will fall. If you only stress them at feeding time it should be ok.

We also use the first bite and if there are any other fish in the tank with the fries, we put flakes in and there is never a problem. We usually dip the water out with a cup to do a water change with fry in a tank. Also, we try not to overfeed as the water stays cleaner longer Whatever you do, do it gently as fry are easily stressed.

with our platy fry we never had a problem sucking any of them up in the ciphon-just being extra careful!! they seemed to know really well to get out of the way-- I love ciphoning with fry in thetank cuz it guarantees me a look at all of them because they all come out of their hiding places!!! ;D LILA
