How To Clean Silk Plants, May Be Contaminated With Septicemia?

Anyway, I have soft silk plants that need a thorough cleaning. But bleach might be soaked up. What else can I use?

Do they need to be cleaned, or sanitized? If they just need to be cleaned cos they have algae and biofilm on them, I suggest just scrubbing them in warm water.

Nope, sterilized. Thank you, though.

Well, any chlorine in the bleach will evaporate in 24 hours, especially if you rinse it in water with dechlorinator. However, i'm not sure if it would do damage to the silk. Personally I would just buy new plants.

Is chlorine what is harmful about bleach to fish?

the chlorine in bleach is harmful to fish, though I would guess other elements of bleach are harmful as well. I have used bleach to sanitize aquarium equipment and chose to wait the 24 hours as well as use a heavy dose of tap water conditioner when rinsing. However, these were on plastic, non- porous surfaces unlike silk, which is porous.

So basically... I have some information that is relevant but I don’t know the answer to your question. Hopefully someone else can weigh in.

Yeah, I'm afraid the bleach will soak into or ruin the silky material. Sigh lol I can try boiling it but that might melt or ruin it anyway.
