Anyone have experience using fluval stratum as substrate?
I was wondering did you guys when doing partial water change, did you stir up the substrate so that you can suck up the waste stuck in the substrate? as u know the fluval stratum is very light, so some light movement will result the substrate fly away and some plants fly all over the aquarium due to the substrate cannot hold onto the ground.

I strongly dislike Fluval stratum for those reasons. It also seems very messy. The water comes out black every time! I’m hoping to switch it out but it is what i have for now.

I usually move quickly. I stick the vacuum in the substrate, then pull it out when the substrate starts to float towards the tube part of the vacuum.
