How To Clean Brand New Tank From Store?

but what do I do to clean a brand new tank from a pet store? I see many posts on what to do with craigslist ones, but what about brand new?

Rinse it and call it a day

 

I’ve always just rinsed them out several times with just water.

 

Wiped it out with a wet paper towel.

 

I filled mine up to see that it actually holds water, then emptied it out a couple of days later. That was my cleaning. 240L so wasn't up to more of a rinse than that.
If it's a smaller sized tank that is easier to physically handle, I would just put water in and maybe scrub it a bit with a sponge and rinse out.

 

Ditto with the "just rinse it out" advice. I usually do my substate setups outside, so I just spray them out with the hose, put in the layer of dirt substrate and wet it down with some old tank water, then carry it into the house to put in the sand and fill with treated water. By the time everything has been filled, settled and drained a few times, it's pretty darn clean

 

I just rinse mine once then wipe down with white vinegar and rinse once more and call it done.

 

I wiped my new 75gal down with 1/2 cup of white vinegar in a bucket of warm water. Then rinse it out 2 or 3 times with plain water. Done

I fill it up, check for leaks, use a brand new sponge that does NOT have soap or anything pre-loaded in it, give it the once over and let'er rip.
