This is a quick article on how to breed platys. Please note, I am no expert but found this way works best.
To start, obtain a tank (minimum of 15g but the bigger the tank, the more fish you will have, which means more fry). Add a heater and sponge filter (or else the fry will be sucked in). Cycle the tank and decorate. Planted is the way to go when breeding platys. Add a thick carpeting plant and a bunch of plants and decor. Now you can get your platys. I recommend getting different colored females (red white blue yellow etc) and painted males. Then the fry will be pained and those always sell well. Many people put pregnant fish in breeder boxes but I will not recommend it. It just stresses the fish out and causes her to give birth wrongly (which is commonly fatal). Now let nature take its course. Within 3 months you will have fry all over your tank! IN a heavily planted tank you will have a 90% survival rate. Adding live food is helpful to feed the fry below. Be sure to slightly overfeed the adults (it makes them less hungry for fry.) Breeding platys is a joy and I hope you will enjoy it too. Thanks for looking!!!
