How To Acclimate Snails

my snails came in the mail today, in a wet paper towel. how do I put them into the water without stressing? the bag I put them and a wet paper towel in won't sink, what do I do???

Are you trying to put the bag in the tank for temperature acclimation? If so, it's supposed to float at the top.

 

I would put the bag in the tank for temperature acclimatizing but not for very long. Maybe 5 minutes or so. Then pop them in the tank. Sad they've shipped them like that, it can cause them a lot of stress.

 

I always put them in a bowl and slowly drip my tank water on them until it covers the snail. When they start moving about, I plop them in.
