How Soon To Separate

just started at 20 gallon to breed convicts pretty sure I have 2 males and 2 females in there all together right now.
Want a pair just not sure when to remove the other two.
Like should I remove one male now then the other female once they form a pair. Or just leave one pair in there now?

 

Do you already have a true pair? I would remove one of the males and leave the 2 females with 1 male. When he picks his mate then remove the solo female.

Female and male should be hanging in the cave together one they pair up right?

 

Yeah, they should be together. He might be chasing her before they pair.
