How should I stock my fish medicine chest?

Not sure if this is the right thread, but it seemed to come closest to what I wanted to ask. I am putting together a fish medicine/water treatment chest and want to make sure I have what I should if the need arises. I have been looking on the different forums here and have gotten some information, but also some conflicting info.

I have freshwater tanks. My fish are:

zebra danios, cories, clown pleco, mollies, swordtails, blood parrots, guppies, black skirt tetras, serpae tetras, angelfish and bettas. Of course, they aren't all together - spread out amongst 4 tanks.

I have the master test kit, Prime, StressCoat, BettaSafe and Nox-Ich. Also have flourish liquid and tabs for the plants.
I am planning on getting Maracyn, Maracyn 2, VitaChem, Garlic Guard, clove oil, and BettaFix. What more do I need to make sure I am ready for almost anything?

Dont bother with bettafix. Useless product at its concentration. Tetracycline, Prazi, Kordon ich attack+ (for scaleless fish). The marcyn1 and 2 will cover your betta. BettaSafe is just water conditioner. tetra makes a bunch of target products for specific fish that are truly unnecessary. Kordon makes products that will be safe for your pleco and cory. Marcyn also seems to be safe for them. If its meds you want to stock on then aI'm for the basic products, not the brand names. Jungle does make a good anti-parasitic though.

 

Keep an eye on expiration dates. Alot of meds don't have very long ones

I got a little carried away when I first started but I have pretty much everything a few are doubles and I don't use some of them I only got the safe start and the prime today
Shame non of my friends over here are into the hobby or they could take some off my hands

 

Oh, I should add, Pimafix and Melafix ARE good meds to have on hand. They are great for non labyrinth fishes(bettas and gourami). Bettafix is just a low concentration version of melafix, while its safer for bettas, its also 1/5 as strong. Thus, other meds are much more effective and safe.

I wonder how my husband would feel about getting soaked with StressCoat the next time he is grumpy ?

I prefer to stock preventatives such as Garlic Guard and Vita Chem in place of medications. I do not keep medications on hand.

Fish Food...NLS Thera A (with garlic and anti-parasitic preventative)


Water Conditioners:
Nova Aqua + and Amquel + in combination. However, I 'm switching to Prime.

I think garlic guard is one of the few things I don't have I'll have to invest although I do have two types of NLS food that has garlic in it and brine shrimp in garlic (frozen) but still info use the never know policy it's always good to have it and not need it than the other way around

You can always buy garlic cloves, dince them, get a small plastic container insert mince garlic and tank water...presto...you got garlic guard . That is what I do.
