How Picky Could A Betta Be?

Hi, so, this is my first time having a Betta. Mine is VT male, and I had kept some livebearers before. While I was researching to get a Betta fish, I noticed some concerns about how picky a Betta fish can be.

As of now, my fish eats everything given. I gave him Betta pellets doused with garlicguard, freeze-dried bloodworms, diced krill and freezed bloodworms. Everytime something new is introduced, he seems to be intrigued and go right up to eat it, including my fingers.

I might try other freeze-dried foods as his snacks. How picky is your betta?

Personally I haven’t had any, but some have had them practically not eat anything no matter what they try. Make sure you soak the bloodworms before you feed them to your bettas as non-soaked freezedried treats can cause problems.

It all depends on the betta, as each has its own personality. I’ve never had a picky one, but I’m sure there are a lot out there.

My betta jumps out of the water for his food so he is not picky in any way. All bettas have different personalities so you just got some luck.

bettas can definitely be picky. they might not eat certain foods, brands or if the food is prepared the way they don't like. so sometimes you have try out a lot of foods in order to find something he likes. my betta isn't very picky but ive had picky ones in the past

Bettas can be picky, but their hunger usually wins out. Mine often resists new food- for about five minutes. If he doesn't like something he'll spit it out... then eat it off the bottom of the tank when he realizes his favorites aren't coming.

I kind of take back my comment up there saying "bettas? Picky? Nonsense." Because when I got my first betta, it would spit out the food every time I gave it, but then it would go down and try to eat it again, and spit it out, and that would happen a few more times. (Yes, it's "would". R.I.P. my first fish.)

My first betta would eat the pellets but ignored tropical flakes. My current one will eat anything though!

I've had only one problem with a picky betta: he didn't like bloodworms!!
