How old were you when you started keeping fish?

I just started 2 weeks ago. My father used to take me out over 10 years ago to the LFS to pick out Koi's and other fish.

Now I took my daughter to choose her first fish for her aquarium.

 

I kept some goldfish when I was like five but only got into it properly when I was about 10...

 

In the house I grew up in, my father had a custom saltwater tank built into the dining room wall, it was massive. Around 9 years old I wanted my own tank. My father being a smart man knew that I would lose interest and the fish would become his responsibility; instead, I got sea-monkeys and I thought they were the coolest thing ever! Now my father is too old to take care of such a massive tank and has 3 betta fish. I have caught the fishkeeping bug and he enjoys the hobby through me now haha. I hope to pass it on to my kids, fishkeeping got me through law school and hard times for sure. Currently, I run two 75 gallon mbuna and peacock show tanks; all male.

 

As a kid we always had a pond in our garden with goldfish in it (which I'm pretty sure I fell in more than once). My brother got his tank when he was about 8 (I was 10) but I looked after it and enjoyed it a lot more than he did. That lasted about a year because he never changed the water. I got my own tank (18 gallon) at 16 this past Christmas, and have already bought another one (34 gallon).
