How often to change water in betta tank?

HI guys,
I have 2 betta tanks now.

Tank 1
cycled 10 gal - ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 5
sponge filter
1 male betta
3 nerite snails
mostly fake plants

Tank 2
cycled 10 gal - ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 3
sponge filter
1 male betta
no tank mates
fake plants

I used to do partial water change weekly (about 25%). But today I thought they both look really clean so I would check the water parameters before changing water. Turns out both tanks were CLEAN (the parameters above, used API liquid kit)! So I didn't do my weekly water change today. So how often do you change water in your betta tank?

I'd still do weekly water changes to replenish the minerals taken up by the fish and inverts

I do 30-50% weekly on my betta tank, depending on how much water comes out when I siphon the substrate.

I have a 29 gallon sorority tank that I do at least a 25% every week and like TexasDomer said sometimes more depending on how much gets siphoned by the gravel vac.

All right, back to weekly water change it is! Secretly hoping to hear "oh I never have to clean my betta tank", or "once a month or two is plenty" haha!

It shouldn't take more than about 15 minutes to do water changes on your tanks. I like to do them before (or during!) breakfast

I know, I know! I have 3 tanks total now -a 20 gal community tank & the 2 10 gal betta tanks. Ive gotten to a good routine now so takes me around 45 min to do all 3. No biggie.
