20 Gallon Tank How much to feed the fish??

Hello. Im planning on getting some kuhli loaches, gouramis and guppies. How much should I feed them?? I really haven't been able to find an answer to this question. Some say as much as they can eat in 30 seconds, some say a pinch (how much is that anyway?), I've seen people fast their fish for one day a week aswell - is that recommended? Im planning on feeding flakes and bloodworms - but how much? Also - should I get sinking pellets for the loaches?

In my experience, you'll need to overfeed the gouramis and guppies a bit to make sure the kuhli loaches get enough. That is, put a bit more food in the tank than the gouramis and guppies can eat. Make sure that food sinks to the bottom and the kuhli loaches have time to go over and eat it.

How much to feed your fish is more a matter of observation than a specific amount. That is, if your fish are skinny, you probably need to feed more. If your fish are too fat and/or your filter/water changes can't keep up with the waste, feed less.

If you keenly observe your aquarium and fish, over time you'll learn just how much to feed them.

Hello,

I believe Mudminnow answered your question about feeding, but I have a question for you. You mentioned getting gouramis plural. What species did you have in mind? I'm asking because some species often get aggressive to other gouramis as they get older, and sometimes even to other species of fish in the tank. Dwarf gouramis are probably the worst, followed by 3-spot gouramis (blue, gold, opaline, etc).

Pearl gouramis and honey gouramis, on the other hand, are much more peaceful, and can be kept in groups. As a matter of fact, they will often do better in groups.

Im getting a pair of honey gouramis. The bigger species wouldn't fit in my 21gal anyway and Im aware of the nature of the dwarf gouramis, although I've heard mixed experiences with those. A male and female honey gourami should leave my other fish alone from what I've read?

They should be fine. I might add one or two more, but I don't think two will be a problem.
