How much sand for a 10 gallon tank for one crayfish?

I'm looking into getting a crayfish. I plan to get a hooded 10 gallon tank (although I hear they like the light off?), a hang on filter (aqueon 10 quietflow), and sand since I hear that they like to dig into the sand. How much should I get?

Also, does this set up sound good for one crayfish? I also will add places for it to hide (but no plants - I hear they destroy those too easily).

Well I've got about 2 inches of sand in my 10 gallon, which was about 20 pounds of it.

10 gallons is okay for a crayfish

Typically you'll use a pound to a pound.5 to every gallon of water. For the crayfish, you could go a little over

My cray doesn't seem to mind the light except when I first turn it on.

Your making it a crayfish heaven! You can actually have 2 dwarf crayfish in there if you want. Just make sure they aren't 2 males. Also make sure they each have a hiding place.

I bought a 50 pound bag of pool filtration sand, and so far I've used it on 2x 20 gallon tanks and still have around 20 pounds left.
