Hello, I'm currently doing a fish-in cycle with my oranda in a 40 gallon tank. It's day 8 out of 14 and the water level is dropping a lot. It doesn't have a lid btw. I've heard people say that leaving the water in a bucket for 3 days to remove all chlorines and things like that but I'm not really sure so.. I also don't know how much to add. I just added 3 gallons in a bucket and idk how much prime to add bottle says 5ml for 50 gallons so 1 ml per gallon. I'd also have to wait 24 before adding it to the tank after prime as it might kill all of the bb since I'm using tss++ ?

I don't think that 1 ml will hurt your fish but what is the brand of prime?

I had a 2.5 for a bit and used prime. I just did the math and added a bit more. So for you I would say 0.4 ml, using 0.1 ml per gallon plus some wiggle room. I use 1ml pipettes with marks every 0.25. However first time I used TSS+ I added it right after prime and it worked. Just be careful and follow the recommendations.

5ml per 50 gallon does NOT equate to 1ml per gallon! I am sure this was just a typo by you but, thought I would clear that up.

IMO I would just do 1ml to make things easier. You can't really overdo it with prime. It's not going to hurt anything at all.

That or as stated pick up a pipette with measurements on it

I wouldn't be surprised if I made a math error last night. However I would say the 1ml is the best route to go.

the smallest bottle of prime comes with a dropper cap. The directions on the small bottle tell you to use two drops of prime per gallon of water

You can buy a dropper from your local pharmacy. If you don't see one on the shelves ask pharmacist
