How much food?

1481062648900.jpg I have a 20 gallon community tank.

(I've already been lectured on the cory needing more fish friends and the mollies being too big for my tank. Humor me please.)

Just want to make sure I'm not under/over feeding.

3 Mollies
2 Emerald Cory
4 Guppies
6 Neon Tetra
1 Dwarf Gourami
3 Ghost Shrimp
5 Amano Shrimp

How much flake, algae wafers, bottom feeder shrimp pellets I should be giving?

My fish "smell" whatever I drop in there no matter how late and get to it before the corys.

I can't really pick and choose who gets what

My pellets sink faster than the tetras can snag. If their that hungry they eat off the bottom. I understand that doesn't really help, but that's how I handle feeding and the fish are very healthy.

Well that doesn't answer my original question but thank you

I go with one wafer per cory catfish, every day or every other day. They are gone by 12-24 hours later. I want them to feel like going after remnant food particles, too.

For flakes, I use the amount that they can handle in a few minutes, feed once a day.

The shrimp pellets depend on what brand they are. I've read that some of the better brands are more expensive but they also seem to last longer. In other words, they don't break up as easily in water, and the shrimp can really go at it for a longer period of time, eating whatever miniscule amounts that they can eat off the pellet till it is gone. Having said that, though, shrimp also feed on other things in your tank that you don't even see or think of as food, as well as scraps, so if there had to be one that you don't feed as often as the rest, it could be the shrimp.

Break the wafer into pieces (3 - 4) and drop it around the tank. Once per day.
Use index and thumb to grab a pinch of flake food. Drop that in and adjust as needed once you see the rate at which the fish eat them.

Drop two shrimp pellets twice a day.

Test your ammonia after following above for two days and if your ammonia has increased, dial back how much you are feeding your fish as it probably means food is rotting in there.

I have followed this and it solved any water quality issues I had.

You then have to train yourself to ignore your fish begging for food (it's hard, I know)..

I'm currently having the same problem.
