How Much Calcium?

I recently got an API Calcium testing kit to see how much calcium was in my water. The answer is: not much? There is 40-60ppm calcium in my goldfish tank. Is that enough? I used to always have a Wonder Shell in his tank, and my goldfish got huge. I stopped getting them when the local pet store stopped selling them, as it was the place with the best price. The pet store started selling them again, so I can buy and add one if needed. I also have a pond sized shell left, in case I needed it or something. Those I chop with a cleaver into quarters to make them last longer.
I have a betta, too. Is 40-60ppm calcium too much? I am not adding any calcium to his tank.

Not sure it makes a difference but the API kit is for marine ?
I am not sure if it would or would not work properly ..
I have never seen a true calcium recommendation for freshwater .
Freshwater people just test hardness either General [GH] , Carbonate [KH] or both .
In marine they don't test general hardness [GH] they test Calcium [Ca] ??

Maybe the marine part might affect the results, but I wanted to know how much calcium I had specifically, since my water has ~150 GH and ~80 KH. My test strips state 80 KH is "Moderate", but I have no idea what that means. I heard that Wonder Shells were extremely beneficial by constantly releasing positively charged ions. I wanted to know if buying these things had a significant benefit, since my goldfish turned into a big, solid guy.

I just saw the box and I've had the idea for a while, so I decided to try it and see what happened. This isn't of extreme importance, just curious.

I use wonder shells .They are great but over extended time lower pH while raising everything else .
There is a great article if you search 'wonder shells API' that this site does not let me link ..
When I use them in my live bearer tanks I add a small amount of baking soda to counter act it ..
Look for the link ..
I use a TDS meter ..My water is 7.6 pH /2-3 KH /9 GH with a tds of 350 ..
With baking soda and wonder shells I have seen some of my tanks at 1,000 TDS !
I would imagine the calcium is pretty high . I have the CA kit but never tried it on Freshwater ?
Like I said I never heard a level called out ?
I use drive way ice melter to add Ca to my reef ..The little white balls !

They lower pH? I used them for 2 years straight, and my pH never changed. I would use them until they fully dissolved, then add another one. Then again, I've always changed the water of my goldfish tank twice a week, every week for 4 years. The only time I don't is when I'm on vacation, because I'm not home.
