How many sparkling gouramis for 10g?

I recently bought a new 10g tank and am in the process of planting (it will be heavily planted) and cycling it. Once it is ready I will be moving my 2 African dwarf frogs into it. I am interested in sparkling gouramis and was wondering how many I can/should keep with the frogs, as well as what genders they should be. I'm not super interested in getting the gouramis to breed to I don't particularly want a pair (especially the male aggression that comes with spawning). Would 2-3 gouramis of the same gender do well together? Or should I go with 4 and hope I get a pair to ease aggression?

 

There is, in my experience, no serious aggression in sparkling gouramis that will amount to anything dangerous. The worst thing they'll do is fin nip, so to avoid fin rot you may want to do slightly more water changes than you usually would if you notice ripped fins. Plus the ADFs, I'd, just stick to 2-3.

 

I would do a much larger colony of at least 8. You should probably have both males and females

Agreed here, Sparklers are quite good at killing each other when they are kept in low numbers and sexing is near impossible in store. Keep them in a nice sized group so they can socialize as much as they want.

You seem like the person to ask, I was reading that you should keep them with similar-sized fish and in my tank, I have about a 5-inch BNP, 3 full sized cory cats, (1 corycat baby), and 6 Golden pristellas (who are a little chonky) Would I overstock if I added a school of 6 or 8? And would the sparklers be happy? (I also have an anubias barteri which has grown massive and is like 1/3 of the tank size, I was going to get another barteri as well before I add the sparklers)

I have no experience with these but Tetra in general don't make for good Sparkler tank mates.

I don't think you have mentioned the size of the tank? That would be the deciding factor for me.

It is only 15 gallon I know it is smaller but I'm planning on up grading to a possible 20 or 30 gallon. (Only reason I have a BN is because it was given by family to "Clean the tank")

Personally I would feel more comfortable keeping them in a 30+gallon aquarium if you were to get Sparklers.

From me, not really, but I'll say it's always enjoyable keeping a larger group of Tetra.
If you want more suggestions I would recommend starting a new thread Rather than posting on this older one.
