How Many Shrimp Could I Have?

I'm currently keeping 2 Amano Shrimp and 1 Blue Velvet Shrimp in a 6 gallon.

It's somewhat heavily planted, with provided driftwood and many hiding spaces.

I've been really wanting to either get some Black Crystals, Red Cherries, or even just more Blue Velvets to put in there.

So, with the previous shrimp already in there and the tank with dimensions of 16 in. x 8.5 in. x 11 in. about how many dwarf shrimp could I add without problem at a maximum?
Thanks in advance.

Be careful about mixing varieties of shrimp because they will interbreed and lose their coloring. It would be best to keep one variety you like and let them breed.

I've heard a lot about that. That's one reason why I was considering getting only more Blue Velvets. But thank you anyway

I would just up the number of your current shrimp to avoid interbreeding you could easily fit more than 10 in there, I should mention crystal shrimp are much more fragile and will demand pristine water.

Get a good colony going of one type, you will have loads of shrimp before you know it! They have such a tiny bioload I'm not sure how many is too many. There is a good channel on YouTube called Flip Aquatics devoted to shrimp keeping, you will likely find some good direction on there

Actually, Flip Aquatics is what somewhat inspired me to start trying to keep shrimp

Keeping 2 different types of shrimp will result in clear-colored babies that will keep breeding back and filing your tank with unattractive shrimp! It's best to keep the same type in one tank I have a 10 gallon with 20 blue diamond shrimps and it could have a few more in there too

Wait, Amanos can interbreed with other types of shrimp? Or am I just understanding your reply incorrectly? If so, sorry

Highly doubt it because amano can only breed in brackish (I believe so anyway)
