How many platy can I have in my 55 gallon tank?

    Just wondering how many of my fry I can keep in my spare 55 tank once they are grown

    I would say comfortably about 15-20

    This really depends on how much water you're willing to remove and replace and how often. I have several 55 and 60 gallon tanks with Red Wag and Sunset Platys in them, along with some other fish. I change out roughly 60 percent of the tank water every week and there are a lot of Platys in there.

    Number wise, if you plant the tank well with Water sprite, Hornwort and Anacharis, and change out a lot of tank water every week, you can easily have 20 to 30 adults and a large number of fry in a 55 G.

    Just be a good water changer and you'll have no tank problems.

    Thanks for replies! I have probably 50 platy fry so I will need 2 55 gallons?

    You could always try to sell some or bring them to your LFS
