How many Panda Corys in 45 gallon?

I’m adding panda Cory’s to my 45 gallon tank. It now holds a gold gourami, a pearl gourami, one panda cory(can’t find the second one), and 5. Glow light tetras. I’m only getting interested in more panda Cory’s and maybe 3more glow lights. What do you think about the number of pandas needed? I don’t want to overstock!

Thanks! That’s exactly what I want.

Does the 1” of fish per gallon still apply?

The 1 inch per fish rule is not a good measure to go by. Try using aqadvisor

This rule never applies. Its outdated and inaccurate and doesn't take into account bioload and swimming space and need for schools all that jazz. Please never ever use this rule or suggest that others do

For your 45g, I would up the number of glowlights to 10 or more. And pandas are smaller cories, I would go ahead and get up to 10 more of those as well.

edit: in regards to previous post, I wouldn't rely on aqadvisor either. Your best bet is asking other hobbyists when it comes to stocking.

1 inch per gallon only works for small fish 1-2" in my opinion.
So a fish per gallon ?

Sort of. Its still doesn't take into account the need for schools OR need for swimming space. I wouldn't put 5 one inch fish into a 5 gallon. Because it wouldn't be enough swimming space for small active fish and its a very small number for a "school". Most small fish are schooling fish and most schooling fish need 20 gallons or larger to give them appropriate swimming space. And I wouldn't keep 20 one-inch fish in a 20 gallon (personally) because that would get too crowded. So even then the inch per gallon doesn't work.

In the end....the footprint is significantly more important than the gallons!! In my opinion a tank should NEVER be stocked based on gallons, but rather, the footprint (length and width)

good point. I should've clarified a bit more in my previous post

Thanks. Makes sense. I’m also assuming my two gourami will get about 4 1/2” in my tank so I want to make sure that I don’t get mid to upper level fish to interfere with them. Although I love the Hatchet fish. There’s always one more isn’t there?. I won’t get them because I want more glowlights instead.
