Hi, I was curious about exactly how many fish I can have in my 30 gallon and I am open to suggestions. currently I have in my tank 3 bronze cories, 1 male swordtail, 1 male platy, 4 bloodfin tetras, (I will be getting 3 more soon.) So what else could I have in my tank? Or am I completely stocked? Thanks.

With the platy, your close to fully stocked. They have huge bioloads

If you rehome the platy, you can up the corys to 6 (there schooling too) and up your tetras

wow I had no idea! anything else I should know? btw I'm fine with doing lots of water changes. :)

Platies don't have huge bioloads, though they are messy.

You can up your schools of cories and bloodfin tetra to at least 6 without rehoming anything.

What about adding a Bolivian ram?

    aren't they sort of sensitive?

Bolivian rams? No. Blue rams are often sensitive because sometimes they're injected with hormones to make their colors brighter, but Bolivian rams are fine to be added to a cycled tank with appropriate tank mates.

I may be thinking of Molly's (they have big bioloads no?)

huh, this is all so interesting to me.:)

Mollies do have large bioloads, but a single one wouldn't prevent proper stocking of schools in a 30 gal.

so I should have 6 cories?
  11. TexasDomerFishlore LegendMember

Yes, 6 of the same species.

any other fish or have I reached max capacity?

What are the dimensions of the tank?

You could add another small schooling fish.

What about a pair of kribs?
  19. TexasDomerFishlore LegendMember

I personally wouldn't add a pair of kribs with cories in a 30 gal. Kribs can be aggressive towards other bottom feeders when breeding.

Any brightly colored schooling fish for a thirty gallon? (I like active fish.)
