I'll start: Jean-Claude Van Damme, Belgian chocolate, Hercule Poirot, Belgian waffles
I rest my case. It took like a week to get one answer. Aaaah, to grow up in a small country...
Thanks, Neville! And another thread reminded me of this: Catherine Hepburn. I think she was born in Belgium of something. Oh, and Tintin!
Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaah? You don't kow Tintin? I thought he was world-famous. I am crushed. He's a cartoon character that started in the 40's and continued on to the 80's.
I don't know about good, but this one talks about it: .
hI hI hi, soon you'll get a degree in Tintinology! It's a huuuge classic in France and Belgium, and some collectors are verrrry serious about it.
I'm from Texas, what the **** is Belgian?? a country right?? I don't even think I know where that is.... oh I think I have heard of the waffles...Why would ya wanta talk 'bout that?who or what is Tintin?

Good one on the Belgian dogs. That's one I never thought about for the eternal 'name something belgian' game. They basically do 4 breeds, and all 4 are sheperds, and all 4 are really really really intelligent. I particularly like the Groenendael and Tervuren ones. They have the same shape, but long hair. A little bit that English sheepdog look....I love all animals...them "Belgian dogs look cute!" now I like something Belgian too!!OMG OMG OMG. OK, I suggest you google it, and ... get some urgent geography lessons :
Sorry guys but I HATE Tintin!! Love Garfield though! My Great grandfather was Belgian, Mr Dulee ( can't remember his first name at mo! ) and isn't there a rabbit called a 'Belgian hare'? will have a look.
So are you British Armadillo?
Oh yeah, you're right about the hare. I remember now. We call it the Flemish giant and it's ginormous! I'd love to have one at home. It's bigger than a Jack Russell!Sorry guys but I HATE Tintin!! Wow! How do you know so much about it? I should hire you as a special state envoy to promote the country. It's tiny, but no more than The Netherlands and that sort of countries.I'm from Texas, what the **** is Belgian?? a country right?? I don't even think I know where that is.... oh I think I have heard of the waffles...Why would ya wanta talk 'bout that?who or what is Tintin?
I'm so glad I was sitting down when I read that.....but the "I'm from Texas" part should have warned me.
K's Choice, Hooverphonic, Front 242, godiva, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they also invented the godlike delicacy we know as french fries.
It's wee though. I mean, you could fit it into texas and have room left over for nevada!!
ROFL. I can imagine Tintin with little horns and a tail!
Yeah, totally a different world. And for some reason, people really think Belgium is tiny when there's way tinier places. People also obsess about the 3 language thing, like there's no multilinguism in Canada or Switzerland and even the UK. Strange. It's one of those constantly misunderstood places.
Yeah, you guys are also having a hard time at the moment, that's true. It seems to be really fashionable at the moment to just slag off Americans for... being American. I have founded an expat club in Holland and we have a lot of Americans in it. Some members are being so mean to them behind their backs for the simple reason that they're American. Not clever.
Oh yeah? (2 language) Why's that?
Oh, I thought you meant officially. MAN am I having a bad day. Permission to whinge?
