How many bags of substrate for my tanks?

I’m planning to get some substrate for my 3 planted tanks (one 10gal and Two 2.5gal).

The substrate I’m looking at comes in 20lb bags and I was wondering how many bags should I get for my 10gal?
I know that 1 bag should be more than enough for at least one of my 2.5gal tanks.

Also, how much should I fill my tank up with it? I don’t want to make it too thick or too thin for my fish or the live plants.

Thank you! Oh and it’s not sand substrate by the way.

I would have to know the volume of the bags to say how many bags to get but I can answer how much substrate to put in aquarium. What I like to do is slope it from front to back so that its shallow .25in to .5in in front (which is less maintenance stirring sand), and about 1in to 2 or even 3in in the back for rooting plants. It all depends on the type of plants you have, most stem plants only need amount an inch to stay rooted while heavy root feeders like amazons sword will need more.
hope this helps.

I do not think you want to buy 1-1/2 bag , do you? If so! Buy one bag and fill up all 3 tank.If you really really want double thick then add one more bag...but I don't think so.

Oh! I reply to Tailor..not for you..
ofc we all know substrates need to fill by inch, and base on plant tank,it need 1-1/2 to 2 inch thick so it can hold up the plant .The question is : can we buy 1-1/2 bags of 20 lbs to fill all 3 tank with 2 inches thick? That also for the answer .One bag! Fill all 3 tank even with sloop here and there..Lesser but ok.
For alkaline tank :

For acidic tank :

I bought one 25 lbs for a 20 gallon and there’s about 1.5” on the bottom.
