How many American flagfish do you NEED in group

Hello! I have a 20 gallon with 6 tiger barbs, 2 American flagfish females and 1 female blue ram cichlid. According to aqadvisor I could comfortably fit one more ram and one more killifish (in red it told me it’s recommended to have 3 flagfish/killifish in group). I feel like that would be too close to overstocking for me, and I’d rather get a mate for my ram than the flagfish. Any thoughts?
I am new to this fish thing! My tank has been set up for a little over 2 months.

Seems like they do best in groups of 6 or more, like a schooling fish. I would NOT do a 2nd ram in a 20 gallon though. If they breed, nowhere for the other fish to go except fish heaven.

 

They're not really a schooling fish so they would enjoy company but you don't NEED more. Keeping 2 is fine but if I wanted to add more fish I'd rather get more tiger barbs.

This is so disappointing! I really wanted a pair, the males are gorgeous! Is there anyway to keep them from trying to breed? Like certain temperature or something?

These 2 are best buddies! I very rarely see them not together

I love this tank so much! I want to get a 55 gallon some day! I got my eye on a few different types of fish. But unfortunately that won’t be in the near future
I do like the flagfish, so that would be awesome! They’re little busy bodies for sure! And I’ve seen some really pretty pics of the males!
