I have a 33 gallon blackwater tank

I have 8 black skiry tetras

6 bronze corydoras

1 BN pleco

1 l010a pleco (red whiptail catfish)

How many algae wafers per night should I provide?

I was giving 5 algae wafers when I just had the Cory's and the pleco and they would be gone by the morning

But I think that's way too much food to use

Is there any calculations I could do to determine how many I need to provide

There's no algae in my tank

Well, it depends on how big the fish are, what other foods they receive and how big the wafer is. If you feed 5 algae wafers every night, but they are 1-inch circles, they will be fine for 1 inch fish but for 3-4 inch fish plus 2 inch cories it may not suffice

Also btw cories should be eating shrimp pellets or a carnivorous food, not algae wafers.

I feed not just algae wafers I also feed fronzen blood worms, krill and shrimp and once a month live blood worms

4 of the Cory's are quite small maybe an inch the other 2 are fully grown

My bristlenose is maybe 2 inches

L010a is maybe 1 inch

I feed hikarI algae wafers

My aquariums have a Bristlenose and Cories (amongst other residents) in each of my fish aquariums they have 3 spirulina & algae wafers + 3 shrimp wafers or pellets alternate nights. They don't get them every night cos they are little piggies and will happily eat anything infront of their snouts even when full

I have a fully grown BN and a full grown farlowella catfish and feed them half a hikarI algae wager every night and break it up into 3-4 pieces and spread throughout the tank. They both look healthy and full stomachs. I do have a lot of driftwood in the tank as well. I used to give a full one but the tank was getting really dirty quick and algae issues. Hope that helps.

I heard and read that they were very fragile but unless I just got lucky with mine it survived a cycle. I would never cycle with them or fish again but lesson learned haha I lost a couple fish but I have some hard core survivors still a year after I set my 29 gallon up.

He is a awesome looking fish and I think I’ll get them instead of a BN next time. My BN is a pig and tears stuff up haha
