How Long Until I Need To Rehome Adolescent Mysteries?

I am not sure what hit the water in my tank but my two-month old tank suddenly has platy and molly fry everywhere I look and now I have 3 clutches of eggs in 4 days!

I have moved them all into a small plastic incubator (aka tupperware container). If I hatch the mystery snails into a 10-gal tank (with a TopFin20 filter), how many adolescent mystery snails can be accomadated before I'm overloaded?

Along those lines - I only thought I had 1 female mystery snail (Jade) but I constantly see her mounted by my magenta and black males. If I'm correct that she's the only female - is it normal for one mystery to lay that many clutches in a week?

They have been known to hold sperm for a time.

But personally I have never seen more then one.

There was a guy who took a small plastic cricket container. Put it below the clutch so the baby snails fall into it. That way you can feed algae wafers and other veggies until they are big enough to now get eaten.

As to the fry. An fry net and or container.

But that is a lot of babies in one shot. Wow.

I already have the egg clutches in a separate incubator. My mature snails are in a 20G tall. I have a spare 10 gal that I am going to put the babies into once they are hatched.

I'm just worried about overcrowding the 10gal before I can find them homes so I'm trying to figure out how many baby mysteries a 10gal can hold.

3 clutches in 4 days seems too many for one female. I never had a female lay more than one full clutch a week.

With frequent water changes, you can get away with keeping them in there until they are big enough to rehome (usually around dime size).

Good to know. I have 6 snails. I've been able to confirm 3 were male and 1 female due to observed mating rituals. The other 2 I think are male based on visual observances of their anatomy but I may have been mistaken. I'll have to see if I can catch them in action! xD

That works. As to the incubator. Make sure it is warm and moist. You can float it in the tank. Which makes it easy to keep an eye on.

Now one of the clutch could produce up to 100 or so babies. Some will make it and some won't. Also add some small chunks of little bone in the tank for the babies. As this will help strength there shells right away.

My female mystery laid one small (dime sized) clutch and two large (50c size) in a week and a half. Soooo...
You should be able to keep a lot of babies in a 10 gal keeping water healthy. Enjoy

You can use cuttlebone for the baby snails.
I do indeed keep cuttlebone in my tank(s) for them!
