How long to wait after adding Water Conditioner

How long must I wait, once I add water conditioner to tap. Before I place water in my tank.

If there are dechlorinators that require waiting ... then I don't know. I use Hagen's Aqua Plus dechlorinator and it removes chlorine from the water instantly. I just fill a bucket with water and add the required amount of dechlorinator to it. Then I mix the water well, and add it to my tank. I believe most dechlorinators should work this way

P.S. I fill the bucket with water that is the same temperature as that of my tank water.

what about untreated tap water I herd you let it stand for 24hrs then it is safe to add to tank is this true.

I also heard of that but I never tried it, and don't know how safe it is. You could ask someone else here.

Any tap water conditioner I've used works right away and you can add to the tank instantly assuming the temp is close enough.

The rule-of-thumb on untreated tap water for water-changes is to let it sit for at least 48hrs...bearing in mind though, any chemicals and metals present will not dissipate, only settle at the bottom of the container..I'd still recommend the use of a conditioner at all times.

I have used StressCoat and Amquel+ and both are a stir and go type. They will take the chemicals out of the water immediately and I have never had a problem with either one of them.
