How long during the day should I leae the light on in my aquarium? Thanks
i believe that the lights should be on for 10-12 hours per day
It doesn't really matter since you have no plants. If left on too long though, you might start to have problems with algae.
The tank is in a room that get's alot of light from outside but it's not in any direct sunlight.
ahh... plastic plants... then like harp said, doesn't really matter... just keep it scheduled (same time on same time off every day) it makes it easier on fish cuz they know when its gunna happen. Merry Christmas, Steed.
From what I seen 8-12hrs is the normal thing unless you have needs like live plants. Myself, I do 10ish.
I leave lights on in my non planted tanks for 12-14hrs a day. My planted tanks have a wierd light cycle that really needs more expalining than you need without live plants. 10-14hrs is usually pretty good for non planted tanks though.
I have plastic plants and Ifound that 12 hours was too much for my tank. I started to have algea problems so now i leave it on for about 8 hrs.
